Thursday evening saw several tornadoes kill three people and do much damage to homes and other structures here in Michigan. One of the strangest stories is of the baby that was picked up and dropped by a tornado outside Millington. A video of an interview with the family is at CNN.
Two people were killed in the Lansing area. Details are from the Lansing Amateur Radio Public Service Corps.
On the afternoon and during the evening hours of October 18, 2007 a strong low pressure system centered over Minnesota touched off supercell thunderstroms throughout Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and all the way down to the panhandle of Florida. Many of these storms produced tornadoes, with a total of around 35 tornadoes nationwide.
Two people died in a EF-2 tornado which touched down in Williamston Michigan around 2228 EDT. There was also another fatality reported near Kalkaska, MI bringing the total count to 3 in the state of Michigan.
